About the position

As a Medical Assistant in a busy medical practice serving the Conyers area for over 20 years, you will provide essential administrative and clinical support to ensure the efficient operation of the medical office. Your role will involve assisting doctors and patients through various tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication, with a focus on accuracy, quality, and timeliness.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and document basic medical history
• Take vitals and document findings in the patient chart
• Review annual wellness questionnaire with appropriate patients
• Organize, authorize and schedule appointments for referrals
• Enter laboratory services
• Send prescriptions electronically or by fax
• Verbally call in prescriptions
• Administer injections, perform urinalysis and other lab tests, EKG and x-rays
• Assist during medical examinations
• Triage patient calls, assess the problem, consult with the physician
• Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
• Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments

Requirements

• High school education
• Proven degree in Medical Assistant
• Proven working experience as a medical assistant
• Reliable and dependable attendance record
• Attention to detail
• Knowledge of medical office management policies and procedures (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA)
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
• Social perceptiveness and service-oriented
• Punctual and self-disciplined
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Proficient in MS Office and patient management software (including EPIC)

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Epic Community Connect
• BLS Certification (Preferred)
• Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
