About the position

The Medical Assistant position at the Skin & Laser Treatment Institute involves providing routine patient care and support in a busy dermatology, surgery, and cosmetic practice. The role requires interaction with patients, providers, and vendors, and includes responsibilities such as preparing patients for examinations, maintaining treatment rooms, assisting in surgeries, and managing patient records.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and prepare them for examination and treatment.
  • Stock and prepare exam, surgical, and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Maintain the schedule and organizational flow of patients.
  • Ensure that all treatment rooms are cleaned and stocked at the beginning and end of the workday.
  • Assist providers in preparing the patient and the facilities for minor and major surgeries.
  • Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including equipment sterilization.
  • Assist with scheduling of patient's tests and treatments and giving results as needed.
  • Clean and test autoclave and other equipment and maintain a working record.
  • Maintain biopsy log, biopsy slides, and pathology reports.
  • Record results in patient charts.
  • Process prescription refills in compliance with established procedures, assuring authorization for prescriptions as needed.
  • Perform wound care and other patient care needs.
  • Document and photograph patient procedures for medical records purposes.
  • Maintain basic grooming and conform to office dress code.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
  • Previous medical office work experience (1 year preferred).
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in medical assisting (1 year preferred).
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish.
