About the position

The Medical Assistant position at Valley ENT involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities within a medical office setting. The role requires a compassionate and detail-oriented individual who can effectively manage patient interactions, perform clinical tasks, and maintain accurate medical records. The Medical Assistant will work closely with healthcare providers to ensure efficient patient care and office operations.

Responsibilities

  • Patient In-Take including taking vitals such as weight, height, and temperature.
  • Gathering patient history to provide a thorough medical background for the provider.
  • Identifying patient needs by observing verbal and non-verbal cues.
  • Recording pertinent information in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Communicating clearly and directly with the provider.
  • Performing tasks promptly to maintain appointment flow.
  • Patient Out-Take including reviewing medications and treatment plans with patients as directed by the provider.
  • Pulling patient medical records and documentation.
  • Sending information to medical providers and following up to confirm receipt of referrals.
  • Checking medical records prior to patient visits to verify authorizations and reports.
  • Following up with patients for their next visit.
  • Sanitizing medical equipment and performing housekeeping duties at the end of the day.
  • Answering phones and retrieving messages for patient callbacks.

Requirements

  • Valid Certified Medical Assistant certification (strongly preferred).
  • Experience in taking vital signs.
  • Strong communication skills for patient and provider interactions.
  • Problem-solving skills to assist with patient diagnoses and medical equipment issues.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to enhance patient care.
  • Empathy and compassion towards patients and colleagues.
  • Understanding of basic medical terminology, especially related to ENT.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and computer literacy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish (strongly preferred).
  • BLS Certification.
  • AED Training.
  • Experience with allergies (strongly preferred).
