About the position

The Medical Assistant position involves performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks in a medical facility. The role is essential for assisting physicians with patient care, managing patient flow, and ensuring the smooth operation of the office. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for collecting patient information, checking vital signs, and maintaining the cleanliness of exam rooms, among other duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with patient care and perform clinical tasks.
• Handle clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.
• Provide information to patients regarding clinical services.
• Check schedules and organize patient flow.
• Room patients and collect patient history, including medications and reason for visit.
• Chart patient information in EMR and relay information to the physician.
• Check vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature), measure height and weight, and take EKGs.
• Set up equipment and maintain cleanliness of exam rooms.
• Order supplies and keep exam rooms stocked.
• Assist with minor procedures and handle specimens.
• Perform CLIA waived tests and send/receive medical records.
• Obtain lab and test results and ensure timely review by the physician.
• Provide appropriate follow-up as directed and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Medical Assistant Diploma from an accredited institution or community college.
• Appropriate Certifications in Medical Assisting, EKGs, and Phlebotomy.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Computer skills including knowledge of EMRs.
• Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility or provider's office or documented evidence of externship in a medical office.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with EMR systems (1 year preferred).
• Experience with vital signs (1 year preferred).
• BLS Certification (preferred).
