About the position

The Medical Assistant - Center Float at ArchWell Health plays a vital role in providing compassionate primary care to senior members. This position involves supporting both front office and direct patient care activities, ensuring a seamless experience for patients from arrival to departure. The MA-Float is responsible for assisting in patient assessments, managing electronic medical records, and coordinating care with the healthcare team, all while maintaining a focus on patient experience and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome members upon arrival and help them feel safe and at home, navigating through a seamless and clear check-in process.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals for a multi-disciplinary care team.
  • Update member information in the electronic medical records system.
  • Request medical records and upload documentation to electronic medical records system.
  • Conduct intake with patients, measuring and recording vital signs, patient interview, and medical history; perform examinations and routine screenings, ensuring patients are informed and all questions and concerns are addressed for each procedure.
  • Critically listen and engage with patients throughout appointment, ensuring needs and/or changing in patient conditions are reported to PCP, specialists, and/or other clinical personnel.
  • Perform all tasks with a hyper focus on patient experience, including answering of incoming calls and processing of patient phone messages, including returning calls; routing calls to other team members as appropriate; and calling patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician.
  • Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures and other first aid procedures; use CPR skills when necessary, all under physician supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and conduct accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
  • Assist with center events, as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) required.
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR comparable healthcare vocational training (i.e., foreign-trained physician, paramedic, etc.) required.
  • A minimum of 1 year work experience as a Medical Assistant preferred, but not required.
  • 6+ months phlebotomy experience is highly desired.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
  • EClinicalWorks or similar EMR experience.
  • Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in languages spoken by the communities served.
  • Experience with claims/quality reports and analytical software packages.
