The Medical Biller/Coder position at Women's Health Connecticut involves organizing patient medical costs and sending invoices to collect payments from patients and their insurers. This role is essential for ensuring accurate coding of medical services and effective communication between insurers, medical offices, and patients.

Responsibilities

• Properly code medical services, diagnosis, treatments, and more
• Act as a liaison between insurers, medical offices, and patients
• Handle confidential information and abide by HIPAA laws and other medical policies
• Perform completion of claims to payers
• Achieve maximum reimbursement for services provided
• Invoice patients and insurance companies for claims or payments
• Track and collect payments, including setting up payment plans for outstanding bills
• Correct rejected insurance claims and coding errors
• Manage patient insurance claims and payment plans
• Submit billing data to the appropriate insurance providers
• Assist in setting up payment and pre-payment plans for patients for surgeries, OB care, in-office procedures
• Explain benefits, denials, and billing statements to patients when questions arise either in-person, over the telephone, or via the patient portal

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1-3 years of experience as a medical billing and coding specialist
• Computer and technical proficiency
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 codes
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic math
• Excellent customer service skills
