About the position

The Billing Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing for all customers, achieving departmental goals in volume, production, quality, and customer service. This role involves performing Medicaid eligibility checks, preparing monthly billing statements, and resolving rejected claims while providing excellent customer service to facilities, patients, and families.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve department goals in volume, production, quality, and customer service.
  • Perform Medicaid eligibility checks for accurate monthly billing.
  • Prepare monthly billing statements and create pre-bills, reviewing for accuracy multiple times throughout the month.
  • Handle composite billing, including software limitations review, error correction, claim submission, reject resolution, and split billing charges.
  • Resolve rebilled rejected claims and research price matching requests with monthly reviews/updates.
  • Obtain and enter applicable Hospice information, including formulary and payer adjudication details.
  • Respond to customer service calls and emails, resolving reported issues through the online portal.
  • Review census for payer changes and update as needed.
  • Research and obtain documentation for claims requiring BAE.
  • Identify and process third party and facility/private write-offs.
  • Review, process, and maintain DocuTrack billing documents queue.
  • Provide internal customer service by communicating with and assisting other departments on billing-related matters.
  • Review, research, and respond to third party audits related to specific billing issues.
  • Complete assigned daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting, including facility short pay review and communication.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of recent Medical Billing experience.
  • Experience handling 50+ customer service calls daily.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, typing, computer efficiency, organization, attention to detail, and follow-up.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and understand medical terminology.
  • Ability to adhere to schedule without any accommodations.
  • Strong tenure in recent roles; job hoppers will not be considered.
  • Experience handling claim rejections and problem-solving in previous billing positions.

Benefits

  • $18-$20 Hourly Pay
  • 9 Month Contract to Hire
  • Overtime likely to be required for one week of each month when billing is surging.
