About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding and timely submission of claims to insurance companies. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and medical records to facilitate efficient billing and collections.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, submit, and follow up on claims to insurance companies for reimbursement.
• Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to service delivery.
• Handle medical billing inquiries from patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
• Maintain organized records of all billing activities, including payments received and outstanding balances.
• Collaborate with the medical office staff to resolve any discrepancies in billing or coding.
• Conduct medical collections as necessary while adhering to legal guidelines and company policies.
• Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or a related field is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medical records management.
• Familiarity with ICD-10 coding standards and practices is essential.
• Proficient in using medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills for reviewing complex information.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, insurance representatives, and healthcare professionals.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with Office Ally and OpenEMR an advantage.
