About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding, and facilitating timely payments from insurance companies and patients. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the healthcare billing process.

Responsibilities

• Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and government payers.
• Review patient records for accuracy and completeness before billing.
• Utilize ICD-10 coding systems to ensure proper coding of diagnoses and procedures.
• Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and resolving any discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any issues related to billing or coding.
• Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices.
• Assist with medical collections as needed, ensuring adherence to ethical standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing, preferably within a medical office setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficiency in medical coding practices, including ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
• Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and Availity.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in medical billing or coding is preferred but not mandatory.
