This position is responsible for billing insurance companies for physician bills and performs other work associated with the process. Responsibilities: Prepares and submits physician claims to insurance carriers either electronically or by hard copy billing. Secures needed medical documentation required or requested by third party insurances. Follows up with third-party insurance carriers on unpaid claims until the claims are paid or only guarantor balance remains. Handle insurance appeals. Works with physician or medical record staff to ensure that correct diagnosis/procedures are reported to third party insurance carriers. May assist with rebills and/or posting payments to accounts. Monitors claims for missing information and authorization/control numbers. Requirements: Proven experience as a Billing Specialist or similar role Working knowledge of MS Office and capability of multi-tasking in different databases Excellent communication skills (written and oral) Excellent problem-solving, accuracy and organizational skills High school diploma required. Associate or Bachelor's degree is a plus Previous medical office experience and knowledge of billing procedures is desired This position is based in McKinney, TX and the hours are 8am-5pm Monday-Thursday and 8am-4pm on Friday.
