About the position
Join our team as a Project-Based Medical Biller with specialized experience in ophthalmology. In this role, you'll handle accounts receivable, process claims, manage ModMed and EHR systems, and assist patients with billing inquiries. This is a project-based position with the potential for long-term employment based on performance and project needs. We're looking for a detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple projects, communicate effectively with patients and insurance providers, and ensure accurate billing.
Responsibilities
- Process and submit insurance claims accurately and efficiently, with a focus on ophthalmology billing codes and standards.
- Utilize ModMed software and EHR systems to maintain accurate and updated patient records.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances to ensure timely payment.
- Review claims for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to compliance regulations before submission.
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve any discrepancies or denials.
- Handle billing inquiries from patients in a professional and courteous manner, providing clear and helpful information on billing statements.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to address billing issues and improve processes.
- Assist with month-end billing and accounts receivable reports.
- Stay up-to-date with current billing practices and industry regulations to maintain compliance.
Requirements
- 3 years of experience in medical billing is required.
- Experience with ModMed and EHR/Epic systems.
- Strong knowledge of accounts receivable and insurance processes.
