About the position

The Medical Billing Claims Processor at Insight Institute of Neuroscience & Neurosurgery (IINN) is responsible for preparing, processing, and submitting high-volume medical claims related to personal injury cases. This role requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, ensuring accurate documentation and coordination within the billing department. The position emphasizes teamwork and a commitment to patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Sorts incoming mail daily and distributes to the respective departments; may scan documents to a google/drive
  • Processes, prints, and compiles high volume auto and workers compensation insurance claims; attaching medical records, and submits to the payer
  • Coordinates with the Personal Injury team for questions and/or issues
  • Responds to phone calls from third party payers, attorneys, physician offices, medical and other support personnel requesting release of medical records
  • Responds to faxes received; ensures the accuracy of information compiled is attached correctly to the specific request for the specified patient and date(s) of service requested
  • Compiles and prints medical records requests, and invoice all inquiries appropriately
  • Logs medical record requests received and documents into eClinicalworks
  • Follows-up on Actions created in eClinicalworks
  • Determines records to be released by reviewing requestor information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and obtaining pertinent patient data from various sources
  • Escalates issues to managers that delay the timely release of records
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent
  • Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and understanding of Google drive and Microsoft Excel
  • Basic Personal Injury Litigation Terminology experience preferred
  • Previous experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated excellent skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment while maintaining positive energy
  • Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for professional advancement
