About the position

The Medical Billing Specialist - Patient Accounts Receivable at Medical Consulting Group, LLC is responsible for managing patient accounts, ensuring timely billing and collections, and maintaining compliance with medical billing regulations. This full-time position offers opportunities for cross-training in various areas of revenue cycle management and includes hybrid work options after a successful initial period.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to client and management emails or calls within 24 hours.
  • Check fax machine and scan folders for client paperwork and information.
  • Run Patient A/R reports and identify patient accounts requiring statements.
  • Answer phone calls related to patient bills in a professional manner.
  • Contact patients with outstanding balances after two statements have been sent.
  • Compose detailed notes of contact with patients regarding their accounts.
  • Submit new payment arrangements for approval to appropriate personnel.
  • Use collection processes to determine eligibility for patient account balances over 90 days.
  • Send approved accounts to collection agency following the collection process.

Requirements

  • Experience in medical billing and collections.
  • Knowledge of medical insurance processes.
  • Certification in Medical Coding (ICD-10).
  • Experience with EMR systems.
  • Strong computer skills and communication skills.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality laws and billing compliance regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ambulatory surgery centers or medical practices.
  • Professional attitude and high attention to detail.
