The Medical Call Center Scheduler plays a crucial role in managing patient appointments and providing exceptional customer service within the Cardiovascular Institute of San Diego. This position requires bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, as the scheduler will interact with patients, physicians, and insurance companies to ensure efficient scheduling and communication. The role is essential for maintaining organized patient records and supporting the overall operations of the medical department.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones and guide patients through scheduling steps, addressing their questions and concerns.
  • Schedule appointments in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Input and update patient information in the medical system.
  • Communicate with physicians, medical offices, patients, families, and insurance companies.
  • Participate in various projects and meetings, completing tasks assigned by management.
  • Utilize office equipment such as computers and fax machines effectively.
  • Understand health insurance, authorization, and referral processes.
  • Communicate scheduling issues with management.
  • Maintain and compile patient charts and documentation as required by the department.
  • Cross-train and assist in other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is mandatory.
  • 1 year of customer service experience required.
  • 1 year of computer skills experience required.
  • 1 year of medical terminology experience required.
  • Experience in a call center is preferred.
  • Ability to think and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Ability to maintain patient and employee confidentiality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the medical field preferred.
