About the position

We are seeking a Part Time Medical Coder to join our team at Golden State Orthopedics & Spine. The role involves translating healthcare services into standardized billing codes for insurance and client billing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. The Medical Coder will work collaboratively with healthcare providers and insurance companies to facilitate reimbursement and maintain the confidentiality of patient information.

Responsibilities

• Translating healthcare services into standardized billing codes for insurance and client billing
• Accurately translating medical procedures and diagnoses into alphanumeric codes for billing and insurance purposes
• Reviewing and analyzing medical records to identify and assign appropriate codes
• Collaborating with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure completeness and accuracy
• Communicating with insurance companies and other third-party payers to resolve coding discrepancies and facilitate reimbursement
• Staying updated on industry changes, coding guidelines, and regulatory updates
• Maintaining confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies
• Working efficiently in a fast-paced environment to meet coding and billing deadlines
• Identifying and reporting coding errors or inconsistencies for timely resolution
• Collaborating with other medical coders and healthcare professionals to improve coding processes and accuracy
• Participating in training and development programs to enhance coding skills and knowledge
• Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification
• 2 years experience in medical coding in a healthcare setting (preferred)
