The Medical Coding Instructor at Montana State University Billings is responsible for delivering quality instruction in medical coding and insurance billing courses.   • Provide quality instruction in medical coding and insurance billing courses.
  • Teach 18 credit hours per year in online settings.
  • Facilitate a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Assess student learning and program outcomes.
  • Collaborate with department instructors to meet academic and business needs.
  • Engage in university service and participate in committees.
  • Maintain certifications and stay current in the field of medical coding and billing.
  • Support student success through office hours and advising.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentials.
  • Minimum two years of work experience related to Medical Coding and Insurance Billing.
  • Continuing education through the AAPC Certified Professional Biller Course with intent to complete AAPC CPB Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Continuing education through the AAPC Certified Approved Instructor Course with intent to complete AAPC Approved Instructor Certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching with a Learning Management System (i.e. Desire2Learn, Canvas, etc).
  • Experience in revenue cycle management.
  • Experience teaching at the secondary or post-secondary level.
  • Experience with teaching traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
