About the position

The Medical Data Entry Clerk is responsible for accurately processing and collecting payments for medical claims, ensuring that all documentation and coding are completed correctly within a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong computer skills and attention to detail to maintain the integrity of patient billing accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Daily keypunching into the computer to ensure accurate billing for services rendered within 24 business hours.
  • Completion of documentation and coding on the EMR for charges entered in patient accounts.
  • Monthly input of ancillary services into the computer for accurate service rendering.
  • Daily review of all postings before claim submission.
  • Daily closing of batches and balancing of money posted.
  • Answering billing phone calls and providing exceptional customer service to patients regarding billing-related questions.
  • Resolving claim denials and issues with claim payments in a timely manner.
  • Collecting patient balances in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • 1 year of office experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry skills.
  • Typing speed of at least 30 WPM and numeric keyboard speed of 50 strokes per minute.
  • Ability to work with speed and accuracy in a computer-heavy environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Medical billing experience is preferred but not required; must be a fast learner.
