About the position

X-Cell Laboratories of WNY, a private clinical and pathology lab located in Amherst, is actively seeking a Medical Data Entry Clerk to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is essential in assisting with the processing of patient specimens, ensuring that all data is accurately entered and maintained within our lab information system. The ideal candidate will have a background in science, medical, or data entry, and will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are critical to the lab's operations. The primary responsibilities of the Medical Data Entry Clerk include triaging cell and tissue samples, entering demographic and health data into the lab information system, and selecting appropriate tests based on written requisitions. Additionally, the clerk will be tasked with maintaining the accuracy of patients' personal and clinical data, as well as accessioning samples for testing by outside labs. Attention to detail and a focus on accuracy are paramount in this role, as the integrity of patient data is crucial for effective laboratory operations. While previous laboratory experience is not mandatory, candidates must possess basic anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and strong keyboarding skills. The position requires a commitment to ensuring that all tasks are completed with precision and care. The work environment is dynamic, and the ideal candidate will be adaptable to the needs of the lab and its operations. The shifts available for this part-time position are primarily in the evening, with hours ranging from 4-10pm or 5-10pm, Monday through Friday, totaling approximately 15-20 hours per week. Please note that shift availability may change based on the lab's needs.
