About the position
The Medical Director at Wellpath is responsible for providing medical oversight and guidance in a correctional facility setting, ensuring compliance with security regulations and institutional policies. This role emphasizes the importance of compassionate care for underserved populations, with a focus on improving patient outcomes through collaboration and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical oversight to the facility medical program, adhering to policies and procedures for admission, transfer, and referrals.
- Supervise care given by other personnel and provide consultation for all professionals in the system.
- Partner with the Health Services Administrator to identify problems and recommend solutions to improve patient outcomes.
- Establish and maintain Chronic Care Clinics.
- Ensure proper documentation and adherence to the established formulary for therapeutic regimens.
- Provide emergency treatment on-site and respond appropriately in urgent or emergency situations.
- Serve as a liaison with healthcare providers in the community and consult with medical specialists.
- Review and approve treatment protocols, clinical policies, and procedures.
Requirements
- Medical school graduate.
- Experience in Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Public Health preferred.
- Must have and maintain current licensure within the State of employment.
- Maintain a current DEA number.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
- Must maintain privileges and CME requirements for continued medical practice in the State.
