About the position

The Medical Director of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at Shriners Children's Salt Lake City is a leadership role focused on advancing pediatric orthopedic care. The position requires a visionary leader with extensive experience in program development and a passion for improving patient outcomes. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload, lead clinical initiatives, and coordinate closely with academic and clinical partners during a transition to a new clinical location.

Responsibilities

  • Provide superb clinical and operative care to pediatric orthopedic patients, ensuring optimal outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Provide clinical, educational, and research leadership for physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs).
  • Serve as the Medical Director of the Gait Lab, overseeing specialized diagnostic and treatment services.
  • Educate medical students, residents, and fellows through lectures, workshops, and hands-on training sessions.
  • Engage in research activities to contribute to advancements in pediatric orthopedics and publish findings in reputable journals.
  • Participate in regional outreach programs and community initiatives, representing the facility at professional conferences and events.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with Primary Children's Hospital, Intermountain Health, and the University of Utah to enhance patient care and research efforts.
  • Represent the medical staff to the local Board of Governors and Shriners administration.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery fellowship program.
  • At least eight years post-fellowship experience required.
  • Board certification by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS).
  • Extensive experience in neuromuscular conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative leadership capabilities.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Utah.
