About the position

The Medical Editor position at MedStar Health Research Institute involves coordinating the review and publication of articles for major medical journals. The role is responsible for managing manuscript submissions, ensuring timely communication between authors, editors, and the publisher, and maintaining the quality of informational content.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the review and publication of articles for major medical journals.
  • Manage all aspects of manuscript submissions and interactions between authors, editors, and the publisher.
  • Review content of manuscripts received from senior scientists and physicians.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of all authors and manuscripts.
  • Act as the primary liaison to all submitting authors, handling all written and verbal communication.
  • Notify authors of receipt, publication acceptance, or rejection of their manuscripts.
  • Maintain correspondence with the journal's Editor in Chief, Deputy Editors, Associate Editors, and Editorial Board members.
  • Prepare announcements, Calls for papers, Information for Authors, Editorial Notes, grant proposals, and e-mail blasts.
  • Screen newsworthy information relevant to the field and draft monthly journal and website content as needed.
  • Proofread, edit, and prepare physicians' manuscripts for journal submissions.
  • Assist the Editor in Chief in assessing the range of journal content and inviting article submissions to enhance the journal's scope.
  • Provide logistical support for meetings of senior Editors or the Editorial Board.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably with a concentration in Business Administration.
  • 3-4 years of editorial experience, preferably in a medical environment.
