About the position
The Medical Equipment Driver & Customer Service Technician at Rotech Healthcare Inc. is responsible for the delivery, setup, and maintenance of medical equipment, oxygen, and supplies. This role involves educating patients and caregivers on the proper use and maintenance of equipment, providing customer service both over the phone and in-person, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations. The position requires on-call availability and involves travel to patients' homes using a company vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Deliver, set up, and maintain medical equipment and supplies at patient locations.
- Educate patients and caregivers on the safe use and maintenance of delivered items.
- Provide customer service over the phone and in-person to patients and referral sources.
- Complete necessary delivery forms and paperwork, including invoices and patient care instructions.
- Coordinate verification of insurance coverage information.
- Maintain assigned company vehicle in a clean and safe working condition.
- Manage all aspects of intake, including answering phones and processing paperwork.
- Monitor office supplies and report additional patient needs during meetings.
- Prepare complete and accurate files for the Billing Department.
- Report equipment hazards and product incidents as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid driver's license in state of residence with a clean driving record.
- Experience with medical equipment preferred.
- One year of related work experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
