The Patient Service Representative plays a crucial role in the medical office by managing the patient check-in process, updating patient information, and ensuring a smooth flow of operations at the front desk. This position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform opening and closing clinic duties
  • Greet patients and check them in for appointments
  • Verify insurance information
  • Scan documents into electronic health records
  • Maintain tidiness of the waiting area and reception counter
  • Check schedules for added, canceled, and no-show appointments
  • Schedule follow-up appointments as needed
  • Respond to designated tasks in the electronic health record
  • Order clinic office supplies
  • Sell and track cosmetic products
  • Distribute mail
  • Prepare for the next day's scheduled appointments

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of recent medical office experience or in a similar capacity
  • Proficient in basic computer functions
  • Ability to learn new software quickly
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Typing speed of a minimum of 40 wpm
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize appropriately
  • Ability to work well both individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
