About the position

The Medical Front Office Clerk position at Parrish Healthcare in Titusville, FL, is a full-time role that serves as the primary point of contact for patients and visitors within the PMG Interventional Cardiology department. Under the guidance of the Site Manager, the clerk is responsible for a variety of administrative tasks that ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for patients. This includes greeting patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner, both in person and over the phone, while also addressing inquiries and taking messages as necessary. The role requires effective appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and the collection of copays, all of which are essential for maintaining the operational efficiency of the front office. In addition to patient interaction, the Medical Front Office Clerk is tasked with preparing new patient charts, filing, and maintaining accurate patient records. This includes organizing and retrieving charts for upcoming appointments and confirming appointments with patients via telephone one day prior to their scheduled visit. The clerk is also responsible for checking in patients, ensuring that all patient and insurance information is accurate and up-to-date in both physical charts and the electronic medical record (EMR) system. The role further encompasses billing and bookkeeping functions, which include collecting cash payments, posting transactions, and balancing daily financial sheets according to established billing protocols. At the end of the patient visit, the clerk checks out patients by accurately entering charges into the computer system and collecting any outstanding co-pays or out-of-pocket expenses before the patient leaves the office. This position is vital in creating a positive first impression and ensuring that all administrative processes run smoothly within the healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner both in person and via telephone; answering questions and taking messages if needed, scheduling appointments.
  • Prepares new charts, files and maintains patient records; maintains, organizes and pulls charts for upcoming patient appointments.
  • Confirms appointments with patients via telephone one day prior to scheduled appointment.
  • Check in patients confirming accurate and updated patient and insurance information is in chart as well as the EMR.
  • Perform billing and bookkeeping functions including collection of cash payments, posting and balancing daily sheets of transactions and balancing deposits according to set billing protocols.
  • Check out patients; accurately enter charges into computer, collecting all co-pays and out of pocket charges prior to patient leaving.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 0 to 1 year of work experience in a similar role.
