About the position

The PRN Registered Nurse RN PreOp PACU position at Banner Health involves providing nursing care to patients in the Preoperative and Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The role requires assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in accordance with professional nursing standards and organizational policies. This position is part of Banner Staffing Services, which offers flexible, per diem opportunities within the healthcare system, allowing nurses to work as needed while gaining experience and potentially transitioning to regular positions.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
  • Formulate a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and input from the patient, family, and health team.
  • Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the healthcare team activities.
  • Evaluate the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, revising the plan of care as needed.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in accordance with policy.
  • Provide care based on the best evidence available and participate in research activities within clinical practice.
  • Contribute to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes and participate in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators.
  • Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts regarding patient health care.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in Arizona or compact state.
  • Prior RN PreOp/PACU experience preferred.
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a similar healthcare setting.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Knowledge of electronic health record systems.
