About the position

The Image Analyst position at Mayo Clinic is a specialized role within the Radiology Department, focusing on the acquisition, processing, and presentation of three-dimensional (3D) medical images. This role is critical for supporting accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and medical interventions by providing detailed 3D reconstructions of anatomical structures. The Image Analyst collaborates with radiologists, clinical teams, and technology experts to integrate 3D imaging into patient care, and may assist with research projects supported by grant commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire, process, and present three-dimensional (3D) medical images.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and clinical teams to ensure successful integration of 3D imaging into patient care.
  • Provide intricate and detailed 3D reconstructions of anatomical structures.
  • Assist with methods, procedures, and post-processing of data for research or core lab projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and proficiency with computers.
  • Familiarity with medical imaging modalities such as MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, PET/CT.
  • Understanding of anatomy, physiology, and disease progression/treatment on imaging.
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office and experience with electronic health record data.
  • Hands-on experience with medical imaging software and tools for image acquisition, processing, and analysis.
  • Experience in quantitative image analysis techniques, including feature extraction, segmentation, registration, and classification.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex medical imaging data.
  • Familiarity with programming languages used in medical imaging analysis, such as Python, MATLAB, or R.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with DICOM, FIRE, and other related medical informatics standards.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development.
