About the position

The Medical Imaging System Administrator is a part-time role focused on the management, maintenance, and optimization of medical imaging systems, including PACS and RIS. This position requires a deep understanding of medical imaging workflows and healthcare regulations, working closely with radiologists and IT staff to ensure efficient and secure imaging services. The role involves technical support, system troubleshooting, compliance with industry standards, and user training, all aimed at enhancing patient care through reliable imaging technology.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain PACS, RIS, and other medical imaging systems.
  • Ensure system availability and performance through regular monitoring and maintenance.
  • Provide technical support to radiologists, technicians, and other healthcare staff.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform system upgrades and patches as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement system policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with IT staff to integrate imaging systems with other hospital systems.
  • Train users on system functionalities and best practices.
  • Maintain system documentation and user manuals.
  • Conduct regular system audits and performance evaluations.
  • Manage system backups and disaster recovery plans.
  • Coordinate with vendors for system support and maintenance.
  • Monitor system security and implement necessary safeguards.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of new imaging technologies.
  • Provide input on budget and resource planning for imaging systems.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in medical imaging technology.
  • Ensure data integrity and confidentiality of patient information.
  • Support research and development initiatives involving imaging systems.
  • Assist in the development of training programs for new staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing medical imaging systems.
  • Strong knowledge of PACS, RIS, and DICOM standards.
  • Experience with system administration and network management.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with system integration and data migration.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Experience with vendor management and contract negotiation.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
