About the position

The Richland Hospital & Clinics is seeking a dedicated Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our team. This full-time position involves working variable 12-hour shifts, including day and night rotations, and requires participation in every fourth weekend and holiday rotation. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our laboratory operations, ensuring accurate and timely testing of specimens to support patient care. In this role, the MT/MLT/MLS will be responsible for collecting and receiving specimens, performing phlebotomy procedures, and conducting a variety of laboratory tests across multiple disciplines, including Chemistry, Hematology, Immunohematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Immunology, Microbiology, Blood Gases, Molecular testing, and Toxicology. The position requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze test results, report findings to medical staff, and maintain accurate records of tests performed and results obtained. Additionally, the candidate will assist with laboratory management tasks as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the laboratory. Responsibilities

  • Collect and receive specimens for testing.
  • Perform phlebotomy procedures.
  • Conduct laboratory tests in Chemistry, Hematology, Immunohematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Immunology, Microbiology, Blood Gases, Molecular testing, and Toxicology.
  • Analyze test results and report findings to medical staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of tests performed and results obtained.
  • Assist with laboratory management tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Medical Technologist - Bachelor's degree in CLS or Medical Technology or related science and successful completion of an approved Medical Technology internship program.
  • Medical Laboratory Technician - Associate degree from an accredited School of Clinical Laboratory Sciences and completion of an approved clinical laboratory internship.
  • Candidates must be ASCP certified or eligible for certification.
