Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory procedures under supervision following outlined procedures and instructions.
• Utilize standard and specialized techniques, instrumentation, and equipment on biological specimens.
• Assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
• Exercise professional judgment to recognize and prioritize varying test requests and workload.
• Perform duties defined under CLIA role of Technical Consultant, Technical Supervisor, and General Supervisor if delegated.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science.
• Completion of 60 semester hours from an accredited institution, including specific coursework in medical laboratory technology or science courses.
• One year of experience in an approved program or equivalent with an accredited agency.
• Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), or categorical certification from ASCP or AMT.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow detailed laboratory procedures and protocols.
• Basic computer skills or ability to acquire skills to operate department application packages.
• Minimum of 12 continuing education credits required annually for continued employment.
