About the position

Join our team as a part-time Medical Lab Scientist or Medical Lab Technician at UT Health Tyler, where you will play a crucial role in patient care and diagnosis through clinical laboratory testing. This position requires working weekends and rotating holidays, contributing to a collaborative healthcare environment that values compassion and respect.

Responsibilities

• Function as a professional responsible for the performance of clinical laboratory testing related to patient care and diagnosis.
• Perform routine and special laboratory procedures, including quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
• Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training, and proficiency testing when assigned.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or an Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technician Studies or a chemical, physical, or biological science.
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.

Nice-to-haves

• ASCP or equivalent certification.
• Certification within a specific area, such as M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP).
• Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist.
