About the position

Join our team as a PRN Medical Lab Scientist or Medical Lab Technician at UT Health Quitman in Quitman, Texas. This role is essential in providing high-quality laboratory services that are critical for patient care and diagnosis. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of clinical laboratory tests, ensuring accuracy and reliability in results that directly impact patient treatment decisions. In this position, you will conduct routine and special laboratory procedures, manage quality control processes, perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment, and handle inventory control. You will also be involved in statistical compilation of laboratory data, which is crucial for maintaining high standards of laboratory performance. Additionally, you will participate in quality assurance initiatives and performance improvement tasks, contributing to the overall enhancement of laboratory services. Training new employees and conducting proficiency testing will also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring that all team members meet the required standards of practice. Responsibilities

• Perform routine and special laboratory procedures related to clinical testing.
• Conduct quality control and preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment.
• Manage inventory control and statistical compilation of laboratory data.
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement tasks.
• Train new employees and conduct proficiency testing as assigned.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or an Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technician Studies or a chemical, physical, or biological science.
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.

Nice-to-haves

• ASCP or equivalent certification.
• Certification within a specific area, such as M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP).
• Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist.
