Responsibilities

  • Receive and prepare specimens according to standard protocols and procedures.
  • Perform laboratory tests and calculations to provide data for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Conduct quality control procedures and evaluate test performance and results.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and monitor laboratory equipment used in analytical determinations.
  • Perform phlebotomy procedures as appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient-related information.
  • Analyze and record quality control and instrument maintenance/troubleshooting results.
  • Adhere to regulatory compliance guidelines and maintain awareness of accreditation standards.
  • Participate in performance improvement opportunities and support business development initiatives.
  • Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, ensuring respect for privacy and effective communication.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or related fields.
  • Current license in the state of practice (if applicable).
  • ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist.
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard for data entry and retrieval.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated good judgment in performing duties and conflict resolution.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Familiarity with laboratory accreditation standards and regulatory compliance.
