About the position

The Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist plays a crucial role in performing laboratory tests that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. This position offers valuable experience and opportunities for career advancement, with responsibilities that include acting as a technical expert and ensuring accurate test results through quality control and instrument maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of laboratory tests in departments such as Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Transfusion.
• Act as a technical expert to clinical staff and other departments.
• Ensure accurate results through quality control, proficiency testing, and calibrations.
• Conduct record reviews and instrument maintenance.
• Troubleshoot results and analyzers.
• Take on additional responsibilities such as key operator, QC review, and training new staff.
• Assist with evaluation and validation of new equipment.
• Engage in technical writing and compliance readiness (CAP, CLIA, etc.).
• Act as interim Team Lead when necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science from an accredited institution.
• Medical Technologist / Medical Lab Scientist certification or equivalent certification approved by Manager and Human Resources.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including weekends, holidays, nights, and on-call.

Nice-to-haves

• SCYM ASCP certification
• Experience with laboratory information systems.
• Experience in relevant areas of the clinical laboratory.
• Demonstrated ability to use laboratory systems, databases, and spreadsheets.
• Effective communication skills using email, telephone, and in person.
