The Medical Lab Technician position at CHI St. Joseph Health Grimes Hospital involves accurately analyzing and reporting laboratory tests to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment. Responsibilities

• Accurately analyze and report all tests ordered by the Medical Staff in a timely manner.
• Perform lab test procedures on patient specimens adhering to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Provide excellent patient care through clinical correlation of results and rapid notification of critical values.
• Ensure major automated equipment is operational by performing maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Perform required calibration and quality control procedures and maintain records.
• Assist in evaluation and generation of compliant documentation for new procedures and equipment.
• Participate in continuing education and training to enhance technical skills.
• Responsible for inventory of supplies and monitoring supply levels.
• Complete all work and resolve ongoing issues within the scheduled shift.
• Communicate professionally with all stakeholders in laboratory operations.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA.
• MLT Certification (ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred.
• Must be appropriately trained in clinical laboratory science.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred.
