About the position
The Medical Laboratory Scientist I position at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital is responsible for conducting a variety of tests on patient samples to detect health conditions. This role utilizes biomedical instrumentation, microscopes, and computers to analyze samples and provide critical data to physicians and healthcare providers for diagnosis and treatment purposes. The position is part-time and requires working night shifts.
Responsibilities
- Conduct a variety of tests on patient samples including blood, body fluids, cells, and tissue.
- Utilize biomedical instrumentation and microscopes to analyze samples.
- Provide data to physicians and healthcare providers for diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university with courses in biological science, chemistry, and mathematics.
- Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) program, or Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) certification from ASCP with 2 years of full-time lab experience in an accredited lab.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist, or eligibility for certification by a recognized certifying agency.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in an accredited lab is preferred.
- MLS certification is preferred.
