About the position

The Medical Laboratory Scientist II at Atlantic Health System is responsible for performing a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests to provide critical data for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. This role emphasizes adherence to quality assurance guidelines, effective communication, and participation in departmental operations and improvements.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency in testing procedures and adheres to quality assurance guidelines.
• Prepares reagents and manages inventory to reduce waste and expenses.
• Exercises clinical judgment in assessing priorities and troubleshooting test systems.
• Assists with the review and revision of procedures related to accreditation and regulatory requirements.
• Maintains clear communication regarding issues affecting patient care and departmental operations.
• Participates in planning and implementing changes through meetings and projects.
• Engages in competency assessment programs as qualified.
• Performs other relevant duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associates degree with a minimum of three years' experience or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
• Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment are required.
• Ability to work independently and in a stressful environment.
• Minimum of 2 years of Blood Bank experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• BS, MT or BS, MLS preferred.
• ASCP eligibility.
• New MLS/CLS graduates are welcome.
