About the position

The Medical Laboratory Scientist II position is an advanced role that supports the Medical Laboratory Scientist I and other laboratory positions. This role involves performing a comprehensive range of routine and complex laboratory tests on biological substances, requiring significant independent judgment. The position is essential for supporting physicians and is critical to patient care.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of routine and complex laboratory testing on biological substances.
• Support the Medical Laboratory Scientist I and other lab positions.
• Utilize independent judgment to carry out assignments effectively.
• Ensure accurate and timely results for laboratory tests to support patient care.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university with courses in biological science, chemistry, and mathematics.
• Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) program.
• 2 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) is required.
• Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) certification from a nationally recognized agency is required.

Nice-to-haves

• 5 years total Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) experience is preferred.
• American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or acceptable individual certification(s) in sections of assignment is preferred.
