Responsibilities

• Performs patient culture testing in Microbiology.
• Assumes responsibility and accountability for clinical laboratory testing related to patient care and diagnosis.
• Conducts routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, and minor equipment repairs.
• Promotes professionalism and fosters a cooperative working environment among colleagues.
• Ensures timely and accurate results of laboratory procedures through technical expertise.
• Processes specimens in accordance with laboratory guidelines.
• Communicates pertinent data about patients or laboratory samples to appropriate care providers.
• Maintains compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Demonstrates competency in following procedural directions and protocols.
• Exhibits problem-solving skills to troubleshoot critical laboratory results.
• Participates in training and mentoring of new employees, students, or interns.
• Prioritizes and organizes workload to assist coworkers in maintaining productivity.
• Demonstrates proper infection control practices and patient identification procedures.
• Engages in self-evaluation and takes action to improve knowledge and skills.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science OR an Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technician studies or a related field.
• Certification from ASCP or equivalent in a specific area (e.g., M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP)).
• Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist.

Nice-to-haves
