About the position

The Medical Lab Technologist/Medical Technologist positions perform routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation. Will additionally participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training and proficiency testing when assigned. The Medical Lab Technologist/Medical Technologist role will be filled according to the education, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate. Responsibilities

  • Promotes professionalism and interacts with colleagues in a way that promotes a cooperative working environment.
  • Displays technical expertise necessary to ensure timely and accurate results of laboratory procedures.
  • Ensure specimens are obtained and processed in accordance with laboratory guidelines.
  • Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to appropriate care provider.
  • Supports organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Attains required competency and demonstrates the ability to follow procedural directions and protocols.
  • Exhibits problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and evaluate critical laboratory results.
  • Participates in the training/mentoring of new employees, students or interns including lectures and bench techniques.
  • Able to prioritize and organize workload and assist other coworkers to maintain productivity.
  • Demonstrates proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, performs proper prompt specimen transport.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned.
  • Engages in self-evaluation of practice and takes action to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Promotes consensus building and applies techniques of conflict resolution and conduct improvement.
  • Retains accountability for quality of care given to the patient.
  • Promotes service excellence and growth of the laboratory.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician studies, or a chemical, physical or biological science degree.
  • ASCP or equivalent required for all positions.
  • 5 Years of clinical laboratory experience as a MLT within a clinical laboratory for Medical Lab Tech II and Medical Technologist II.
