About the position

The Medical Laboratory Technician Adjunct position at Northwest Florida State College is a part-time role focused on providing instruction in clinical laboratory science. Instructors are hired on an as-needed basis to teach courses, engage with students, and fulfill contractual obligations while adhering to college policies and procedures. Responsibilities

  • Providing online/classroom instruction.
  • Fulfill contractual obligations during the term.
  • Conduct each class according to the approved syllabus.
  • Utilize the approved textbook and/or other instructional materials as approved.
  • Be fully prepared and on time.
  • Utilize the LMS following college policies and procedures.
  • Submit attendance confirmation per college policies and procedures, as applicable to assignment.
  • Maintain course grades in the LMS and submit grades at the applicable times, as applicable to assignment.
  • Support students by engaging them in class, answering questions in a timely manner, and referring them for additional support when necessary.
  • Be familiar with and abide by college policies.
  • Treat students and colleagues with respect and understanding of differences.
  • Assisting in development of curriculum as appropriate.
  • Complete annual mandatory compliance training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in clinical laboratory science or closely related field.
  • Current Florida Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technician license OR a minimum of three years, full-time (or equivalent) of pertinent clinical laboratory experience or experience in clinical laboratory science education AND a national certification from the American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
  • One or more years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated evidence of professional growth through participation in continuing education and other related activities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Proficiency with teaching technologies, including lecture-capture software, such as Camtasia or Kaltura, and familiarity with web-conferencing software to facilitate synchronous online student support preferred.
  • Experience in student engagement techniques preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with technology-based instruction preferred.
