About the position
The Medical Laboratory Technician at Palomar Health is responsible for performing laboratory tests of waived or moderate complexity as defined by State and Federal regulations. This role involves ensuring specimen acceptability, operating laboratory computer systems, and assisting in the training of new staff while maintaining a professional interaction with customers.
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory tests of waived or moderate complexity as defined by regulations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in procedures in one or more areas of the clinical laboratory, excluding microscopy and immunohematology.
- Prepare specimens and ensure the accuracy of results.
- Operate the laboratory computer system, including logging specimens and entering results.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment with proper documentation.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new staff.
- Interact with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
- Follow Palomar Health rules, policies, and applicable laws.
Requirements
- Clinical laboratory experience
- Computer skills
- Entry level position requiring under 1 year of experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Ability to speak and read English at a sufficient level for job functions
Nice-to-haves
- 1 - 2 years of preferred experience in a clinical laboratory setting
