About the position
Cherry Hospital is currently accepting applications for a Medical Laboratory Technologist I. Reporting to the Clinical Laboratory, this position is responsible for a wide variety of both moderate and high complexity laboratory tests. Professional judgement is a requirement for this position. The person will be responsible for producing accurate and reliable test results which contribute to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of physiological and pathological conditions. This position is for a Lead Hematology Technologist. CAP regulatory standards will be followed and adhered to these standards. This technologist is responsible for instrument maintenance and supplies for the Hematology Department. This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide variety of moderate and high complexity laboratory tests.
- Produce accurate and reliable test results.
- Adhere to CAP regulatory standards.
- Maintain instruments and supplies for the Hematology Department.
- Exercise professional judgement in laboratory procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology, chemistry, or a biological science from an appropriately accredited institution.
- OR Associate degree in medical technology from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in a medical laboratory.
- OR Completion of a Certified Laboratory Assistant course in medical technology, or a comparable course and three years of experience in a medical laboratory.
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable knowledge of laboratory procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of hazards of working with potentially infectious materials and appropriate safety precautions.
- Demonstrated experience using laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and terminology.
- Knowledge of psychophysiology processes being monitored and application of medical laboratory science.
