About the position

The Medical Laboratory Technologist position at Oregon State University (OSU) is a full-time role within the Student Health Services (SHS) aimed at supporting the health of the university community. The position involves performing laboratory technical and clerical duties to assist clinicians in diagnosing and treating medical issues, contributing to the academic success of OSU students through teamwork and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of laboratory technical and clerical duties to assist clinicians in diagnosis and treatment.
• Participate in organizational committees and provide outreach to the university community.
• Contribute to the mission of Student Health Services through teamwork and collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field (Chemical or Microbiology) plus one year of clinical laboratory experience.
• Two years of experience equivalent to a Medical Laboratory Technician 2 in a clinical laboratory.
• Certification as Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by recognized bodies.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to perform phlebotomy.
• Experience with automated and manual testing methodologies.
• Current basic life support certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of hiring.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Ability to work independently after training and prioritize tasks effectively.
