About the position

The Medical Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory testing, playing a crucial role in delivering quality patient care. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can perform both routine and complex technical procedures while maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Assess the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Inventory and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field, or meet local regulatory CLIA State requirements.
• Minimum 1-2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience is preferred.
• ASCP or AMT certification is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Proficient with computers.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience as a laboratory or medical lab technician.
• MLT qualification or equivalent.
