About the position

LHH is seeking a skilled Medical Malpractice Paralegal with 3-5 years of experience in complex litigation, particularly in professional negligence and medical malpractice. This role is essential for managing discovery, summarizing extensive litigation documents, and preparing exhibits for depositions and trials. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with strong organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of taking initiative in a fast-paced legal environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage discovery processes and summarize extensive litigation documents, including medical records.
  • Prepare exhibits for depositions and trials.
  • Support depositions, trial preparation, and trial proceedings.
  • Organize and summarize extensive documentation for discovery management.
  • Prepare authorizations and subpoenas for record retrieval.
  • Create detailed timelines and medical chronologies, conducting research on medical literature and terminology.
  • Familiarize with local and state court rules and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Conduct background investigations using social media and internet tools.
  • Engage with clients, attorneys, experts, and other professionals through strong verbal communication.
  • Draft correspondence and analysis memoranda with excellent written skills.
  • Maintain knowledge of timekeeping and insurance defense billing guidelines.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in complex litigation, specifically in medical malpractice and professional negligence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational and analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledgeable about HIPAA guidelines and local/state court rules.
