About the position

The Medical Office Assistant position at Albemarle Regional Health Services (ARHS) is designed to provide essential clerical and health services support across various programs in an eight-county district. The role involves assisting healthcare providers and performing a range of medical office tasks, ensuring efficient operation within the medical office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical support and health services at the agency.
  • Assist physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, and lab staff as directed.
  • Perform data entry and record preparation including registration and financial intake.
  • Maintain patient medical records and laboratory test results.
  • Participate in the scanning and/or disposition of all records.
  • Provide clerical support for all clinical services and staff.
  • Interview clients and perform vision and hearing screenings.
  • Take height and weight measurements and provide basic vital signs.
  • Administer immunizations and other appropriate medical tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a one-year formal training course in medical office assisting at a community college or technical institute, or equivalent experience.
  • One year of clerical and health/dental related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation, if applicable.
  • Listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing within four months of employment, if applicable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Standing as a Certified Medical Office Assistant through recognized associations such as AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA.
