The Medical Office Clerk will be responsible for entering customer and account data by inputting text-based and numerical information from source documents within specified time limits. This role also involves compiling, verifying accuracy, and sorting information according to priorities to prepare source data for computer entry. In addition to data entry, the Medical Office Clerk will review data for deficiencies or errors, correct any incompatibilities if possible, and check output for accuracy. The role requires researching and obtaining further information to complete documents, generating reports, and storing completed work in designated locations while performing backup operations. Keeping information confidential is paramount, as is responding to queries for information and accessing relevant files. The clerk must comply with data integrity and security policies and ensure the proper use of office equipment, addressing any malfunctions as they arise. The Medical Office Clerk will also be expected to learn and maintain knowledge of the current patient database and billing system, enter patient information into the computer system, and effectively read through and understand medical documentation. Interacting professionally with physicians, patients/family, and co-workers is essential, as is answering the telephone in a polite and professional manner and communicating information to the appropriate personnel. Establishing and maintaining effective communication and good working relationships with co-workers for the patient's benefit is a critical aspect of this role.
