About the position

The Medical Office Receptionist at Tri-State Orthopaedic Surgeons plays a crucial role in the smooth operation of the front desk and patient interactions. Under the guidance of the Business Office Manager, this position is responsible for checking patients in and out of the office, ensuring that all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and thoroughly. Regular attendance is essential for maintaining the workflow and providing consistent service to patients. The receptionist is often the first point of contact for patients and visitors, making it vital to create a welcoming and professional atmosphere. In this role, the receptionist will greet patients and visitors warmly, register them by obtaining and recording personal, insurance, and demographic information in compliance with established procedures. This includes maintaining patient accounts and ensuring that all information is up-to-date and accurate. The receptionist is also responsible for protecting patients' rights by maintaining the confidentiality of their personal and financial information, which is a critical aspect of the job. Additionally, the Medical Office Receptionist will handle scheduling and rescheduling appointments, process and collect patient payments for copays and other balances, and maintain office operations by adhering to policies and procedures. The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks is essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome on-site patients and visitors by greeting them warmly and professionally.
  • Register patients (check-in/out) and maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal, insurance, and demographic information.
  • Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Schedule and reschedule appointments for patients in accordance with established procedures.
  • Process and collect patient payments for copays, balances, DME, and form requests.
  • Maintain operations by following policies and opening/closing procedures.

Requirements

  • Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Some degree of computer proficiency.
  • Flexibility to work between the hours of 8:30am and 5:00pm/close, as well as some Saturdays.
