About the position

The Medical Office Receptionist position in Urology at our San Antonio clinic is a full-time role primarily responsible for providing essential secretarial support in an urgent care environment. This includes managing patient scheduling, handling appointments, maintaining confidential records, filing, and billing. The receptionist plays a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive timely and accurate information regarding their care, while also upholding the highest standards of patient confidentiality and dignity. In this role, you will be tasked with scheduling patients for laboratory tests, medical examinations, and consultations. You will relay important information to patients about preparation for these tests and examinations, assisting them or their family members with pre-registration forms. Additionally, you will be responsible for obtaining pre-certification and referrals as required by patients' health care insurers or managed care providers. It is also essential to inform patients about the costs associated with their care and to collect and post fees according to established protocols. You will prepare and balance daily financial registers and submit all forms and fees to the fiscal department. The receptionist will also answer telephone calls, relay messages, and greet visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment for all patients. Responsibilities

  • Respect and maintain the privacy and dignity of patients, ensuring patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Schedule patients for laboratory tests, medical examinations, and consultations.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of customer service experience.
  • Medical office experience preferred.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Adept at creative problem-solving.
  • Ability to empathize with patients in need of care.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Positive attitude.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Experience with medical terminology (1 year preferred).
  • Computer skills (1 year preferred).
