The Medical Office Receptionist at Family Care Center plays a crucial role in managing patient intake and providing administrative support in a behavioral health care setting. This position involves greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and handling clerical tasks to ensure a smooth operation of the clinic. The receptionist is integral to creating a welcoming environment and assisting patients with their needs, contributing to the overall mission of transforming lives through quality care.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes patients and visitors to the office and directs questions to appropriate staff members.
• Schedules providers appointments to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and effective use of exam and treatment rooms.
• Collects co-pays and other payments from patients.
• Reconciles cash/check payment receipts generated from the EHR with cash on hand at the end of each shift.
• Collects forms of ID from patients and any other information necessary for their appointment.
• Retrieves patient files, sequences paperwork, adds new patient record forms, and places files in sequence for physician examination or treatment.
• Maintains reception area in a neat and orderly condition.
• Assists patients with insurance papers and billing questions.
• Assists ill or distraught patients as necessary.
• Telephones taxis or family members when necessary for transportation.
• Participates in the medical office emergency routine when required.
• Calls EMS or assists other staff members as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of medical front desk receptionist experience or administrative experience preferred.
• 1 year of customer service experience required.
